MAPLE AND WALNUT CURVED LEG/FLOATING TOP TABLE

 

I found this plan in a copy of Fine Woodworking Magazine a couple of years back, and thought it would be a nice challenge.

As I've mentioned before, one of the more enjoyable tasks in making some kinds of furniture is building the jigs and molds that are used to construct the more intricate parts.

Never has this been more accurate as it is with this table. The legs are curved in two planes, requiring a sophisticated routing jig to get the curves just right on each leg, while still allowing for tight mortise and tenon joinery.
